In 1976, a fusion band called Rainbow featuring pianist Will Boulware recorded an album entitled "Crystal Green", which included saxophonist Michael Brecker, trumpeter Randy Brecker, and drummer Steve Gadd. In 2002, Boulware, the Brecker brothers and Gadd-along with the late saxophonist Bob Berg and bassist Will Lee-reconvened in a New York studio to record "Over Crystal Green" under the group name Will & Rainbow. The album proves that the intervening years have clearly not diminished their rapport.

Ludwig van Beethoven went to Prague for the first time in 1796, accompanying Prince Lichnowsky, who introduced him to the city’s foremost aristocratic families. One of these was the Clam- Gallas family, who played an eminent role in musical circles. It was here that Beethoven met Josephine Clary-Aldringen, an amateur singer and mandolinist who in 1797 married Count Christian Christoph. It was to her that Beethoven dedicated a number of pieces for mandolin and piano that feature in this recording, along with two interesting sonatas by Johann Nepomuk Hummel and Bartolomeo Bortolazzi, originally composed for the same combination of instruments.

It's a ten-song gaze into the black hours and the characters and behaviors that swirl around within them. The album was produced by Dury and long time collaborator Craig Silvey (Arcade Fire, John Grant, Artic Monkeys). While bringing vivid color and sharp lines to this chronicle of the midnight hours, Dury has created his richest and most expansive musical palette yet.
