Improve human sitting
On the stage of life, we play various roles, busy with study, work and socializing, often neglecting the simplest yet most genuine posture - sitting. Sitting, which should be a state of relaxation and ease, often becomes heavy and reserved in the fast-paced modern life. I long to have a relaxed and comfortable sitting position, allowing my body and mind to return to tranquility in a moment of rest.
When I was a child, I liked sitting on the threshold in my hometown best. The threshold is neither too high nor too low, and the wood grain carries the warmth of time. Often in the afternoon, I would bring a small stool, casually lean against the threshold, stretch my legs naturally or sway back and forth. Sunlight filters through the mottled leaves and falls on the body, creating patches of light and shadow. I looked up at the sky, watching the white clouds float by leisurely, listening to the cheerful singing of the birds, and feeling the gentle breeze brushing against my cheeks. At that moment, sitting was so relaxed and free, without the slightest burden. It seemed as if the whole world had nothing to do with me. I was just immersed in this simple joy.
As I grew older, I stepped into the campus and my sitting posture changed. In the classroom, we sat neatly at the desks, our backs straight, our hands placed neatly on the desks, and our eyes fixed tightly on the blackboard. This sitting posture is for better learning of knowledge, but over time, the body gradually feels tired. During the break between classes, I can't wait to lean back in the chair and stretch a big body, trying to relieve the tension in my body. However, this relaxation is only temporary and one will soon have to throw oneself into the study of the next class again. At that time, how I wished I could have a period of truly relaxed and comfortable sitting time, allowing me to forget the pressure of study and fully relax myself.
Later, I stepped into society and work became the main theme of life. In the office, we sit at our desks, facing the computer screen, and sit for a whole day. In order to complete tasks, we often neglect the feelings of our bodies and maintain one posture for a long time, which leads to problems in both the cervical and lumbar vertebrae. After work, dragging my tired body home, I often collapse on the sofa. But even so, my heart still can't calm down. All kinds of troubles at work and trivial matters in life are tangled up in my mind like a tangled thread, preventing me from truly relaxing.
Until one day, I participated in an outdoor yoga activity. On a peaceful meadow, surrounded by green mountains and clear waters, with the fragrance of flowers and the singing of birds. Under the guidance of the yoga teacher, we sat down slowly, adjusted our breathing and gradually relaxed our bodies. I closed my eyes, feeling the support of the earth and listening to the sounds of nature. At that moment, I felt as if I had merged with nature, and all my troubles and pressures vanished. I realized that sitting can also be so effortless and free, as long as we let go of the distractions in our hearts and feel the beauty of the present moment with our hearts.
Since then, I have begun to try to find moments of relaxed and comfortable sitting in the busy life. During breaks at work, I would walk to the window, find a comfortable corner to sit down, quietly enjoy the scenery outside the window and let my thoughts drift away. On a leisurely weekend, I would brew a cup of fragrant tea, sit in a rocking chair on the balcony, hold a good book and immerse myself in the world of words. These seemingly insignificant moments have made me feel unprecedentedly relaxed and at ease.
Sitting freely and easily is not merely a physical posture; it is also a state of mind. It enables us to find a peaceful corner of our own in the noisy world and allows our tired body and mind to have a moment of rest. Let's learn to pause our hurried steps in the hustle and bustle of life, find a comfortable place, sit down freely and easily, and enjoy this simple yet precious tranquility and beauty.
