The Guide I Wish I Had When I Started my Coding Journey!

Many people begin learning to code by selecting a popular programming language and diving in head first with no guidance. This could be a random book buy on a specific topic, an online coding course, or a tutorial project.

Rarely do aspiring programmers begin with a roadmap – a bird’s-eye view of the coding world that describes a collection of relevant programming principles, languages, and tools that nearly all programmers utilize on a daily basis.

One such path is proposed in this book. This is accomplished by laying out 14 phases, each of which discusses an important topic, language, or tool used by professional developers to write code, communicate, and produce professional projects.

I carefully selected these 14 steps based on my nearly two-decade-long experience learning to code.

Part of the reason it took me so long to feel at ease as a developer is that I learned about specialized areas without having a comprehensive understanding of the coding world.

Each step in this book explains a “coding essential” — something that I believe is important to at least be aware of while beginning your coding adventure.
