The American musical "Hair (The American Tribal Love / Rock Musical)" is considered a milestone in the pop culture of the late 1960s. The plot focuses on a group from the hippie movement and their protest against the Vietnam War and conservative society. The book and lyrics were written by the two actors Gerome Ragni and James Rado, who also played the leading male roles in the version that ran for many years on Broadway in New York. The music was composed by Galt MacDermot. "Hair", one of the most internationally successful musicals, was made into a film by Miloš Forman long after the end of the hippie movement in 1979.
