This album brings together Johannes Brahms’ two masterful sonatas for cello and piano, works often regarded as “veiled symphonies” for their symphonic breadth within the chamber music form. Written over two decades apart, these sonatas showcase Brahms’ profound love for the cello—an instrument he studied in his youth—and his deep engagement with musical traditions stretching from Bach to Beethoven. The E minor Sonata, Op. 38, conceived as an homage to Bach, unfolds with striking intensity, combining Romantic expressiveness with contrapuntal rigor. Its expansive first movement, dance-inspired minuet, and fugal finale embody Brahms’ ability to blend historical influences with fresh emotional resonance.

The Accademia Bizantina is an ensemble specialized in the performance of 17th and 18th century musical repertoire on period instruments, although it also includes the repertoire of Monteverdi and some late Renaissance composers.

Furry Worried Ape (TER130) is the second album by Badge Epoch — Maximilian “Twig” Turnbull’s solitary variant of the Badge Époque Ensemble — and the first in his discography made almost entirely alone. Following 2021’s Scroll, a 2xLP sprawl which WIRE praised as “an attempt to fit a whole world onto two slabs of vinyl,” this one is all scalpel and no sprawl: six tracks, under half an hour, produced and mixed with forensic patience by Turnbull at Clyde’s Temple, his garage home-studio.

Listening to Schubert’s music is an invitation to enter an enchanting imaginary world, whose fragrance is so powerful that both listener and performer cannot help but surrender to the dream they feel blossoming within them, spellbound to the point of momentarily losing all sense of reality. Paradoxically, Schubert thus demands great mastery from the performer and a very precise knowledge of the smallest details of the score.

This album is a mastering of the concert performed by the Seikilos Quartet at the Fundacion Juan March on May 28, 2025. It features the world premiere recording of Quartet No. 10 (1945) and the Scherzo for String Quartet (1911) by Conrado del Campo (1878-1953), one of the most original and least known Spanish composers of the first half of the twentieth century.

Guilhem Fabre, trained at the Paris Conservatory and then at the Gnessin Academy in Moscow, sees music as a journey. He explores countries, disciplines (with Olivier Py, Jean Bellorini, Éric-Emmanuel Schmitt) and audiences, notably through uNopia, a traveling stage truck that has been bringing classical music to life throughout France since 2019. In four seasons, he has given around a hundred concerts with this stage truck in forests, village squares and suburbs. In July 2025, he will travel from Paris to Vienna. His second album Beethoven–Debussy, to be released in November 2025, is structured around the founding works of his career: Debussy's Images and Beethoven's Sonata No. 32.

Jessamine is the name of the street I grew up on, and this album is a symbolic return to that origin point—a musical homecoming. Conceptually, I imagine placing each of these songs—these keepsakes—back inside that house on Jessamine Street. It’s about reconnecting with the seeds that were planted early on and viewing them through the lens of all I’ve lived and learned since. Not just a nostalgic return, but a full-circle synthesis of experience, influence, and identity.

Our upcoming 33rd release focuses on one of the most distinctive voices to emerge from Beirut’s Armenian community: Ara Kekedjian. We started being interested in Armenian music from Beirut many years ago, after seeing the records pop up in shops and markets, and DJs like Ernesto Chahoud playing them at parties. From the get go Ara Kekedjian was our favorite. From his infectious arrangements, his catchy melody lines to his dapper looks: Born in 1946 in Bourj Hammoud, Lebanon, Ara became a central figure in the Armenian pop scene of the 1960s and 70s. With his mix of Armenian rhythms, hard-hitting drums, funky guitars, and charismatic stage presence, he carved out a bold sound in Estradayin (Armenian) pop rock.

Working on a new album with composer Philip Glass is a dream collaboration for Brisbane-based musician Tenzin Choegyal. Choegyal, who came to Australia as a refugee, has made a name for himself as a bit of a world music star. His friendship and collaborations with revered American composer Philip Glass has been a meaningful journey together. Glass, now 88, is a Tibetan Buddhist, like Choegyal, although Glass is more devout and spiritually accomplished, insists Choegyal.
