"Well, actually…", the third album of the Polish acoustic jazz quartet O.N.E. The album is based on the spirit of democracy and collective improvisation and offers a dense mixture of original compositions that blur the boundaries between modal jazz lyricism and the raw energy of free improvisation.

The band name O.N.E. is a clever ambiguity: in Polish, "one" (pronounced "oh-neh") means "you" in the feminine plural – an apt allusion to the all-female line-up. In English, of course, it stands for unity. Both meanings reflect the egalitarian, leaderless approach and the closed group sound of the band.

Almost three years after the recording of their predecessor Entoloma (Audio Cave), the group reunited in December 2024 at Studio S4 in Warsaw to record a new set of ten compositions. The album, spread over two pages, captures the continuous development of a band that thrives on interaction. Trust and common goals – even in a society that is divided by socio-economic uncertainty and political ambiguity after the pandemic.

With contributions from all four members – pianist Kateryna Ziabliuk, saxophonist Monia Muc, bassist Kamila Drabek and drummer Patrycja Wybrańczyk – the album reflects their commitment to artistic democracy. Every voice is given space, but the music always seems greater than the sum of its parts. Even on the tiny solo piece [solo form], the other three musicians remain present, supportive and responsive.
