    Aufgenommen in zwei Tagen im Sommer 1967 ist "Nefertiti" das letzte vollständig akustische Album von Miles Davis, ohne Kompositionen von Miles selbst. Die meisten Tracks wurden von Wayne Shorter & Herbie Hancock geschrieben. Am bekanntesten ist das Album für den ungewöhnlichen Titeltrack, bei dem die Bläser die Melodie wiederholen und die Rhythmusgruppe improvisiert (statt andersherum). Obwohl es ein akustisches Album ist, signalisiert es Miles' Übergang vom Bop zur Jazz-Fusion; ein Hinweis auf die nächsten Alben "Miles in the Sky" und das von der Kritik gefeierte "In A Silent Way".
