On January 3, 1987, four young and hopeful tuba players met and - one can almost say on a whim-spontaneously founded the Melton Tuba quartet. Now, in 2016, the Ensemble is taking giant strides towards its 30th anniversary. The four members are of the very best age, like an oak barrel matured, amber-colored Single Malt Whisky, and can look back individually and together on an extremely successful career.

Still the only Ensemble in Germany that consists of four professional tuba players, the Melton Tuba quartet has gone from a daring and initially occasionally ridiculed Experiment to a highly respected, acclaimed, permanent part of the international music world. After all this time, the Ensemble could sit back and enjoy its success - but no: as always, the four are always looking for new, beautiful pieces of music that they can present to their loyal audience.

This is how the current concert program has crystallized in recent years - and often people ask at the CD sales booth during the break and after the concerts: "on which of your 5 CDs are the pieces of today's concert?"Of course, as always, the four musicians want to make their audience happy, and so the decision was quickly made to record this CD: Featuring the Meltons!
