"The Source" is the first solo album by American pianist Kenny Barron since 1981, released in 2023.
The NEA Jazz Master (the highest honor for jazz musicians in the U.S.) juxtaposes four of his own compositions with five standards by Monk, Strayhorn / Ellington and Ellis / Dougherty. In his 60-year career, Barron has recorded dozens of albums as a bandleader and many more as a sideman to Stan Getz, Dizzy Gillespie, Buddy Rich, Chet Baker, Freddie Hubbard, Joe Henderson, Dianne Reeves and many others.
"The Source" is the first release from ArtWork Records, the new label of renowned jazz producer Jean-Phillipe Allard.
