He was born in Istanbul in 1991. His mother is music teacher Füsun Yarkin, his father is Turkish music percussion artist Fahrettin Yarkin. He is the grandson of composer and tamburi Kamuran Yarkin. The second child of the family, Baturay Yarkin's older sister is the classical kemençe artist Nağme Yarkin.

Baturay Yarkin entered the part-time Piano Department of Istanbul University State Conservatory with the first place in 1998 when he was 6 years old. He studied piano with Meral Yapali, Nihan Yapali and Aygül Günaltay Şahinalp, solfege and harmony with Ercan Keseroğlu and Hakan Abit, and deciphering with Sibel Atal Devrim. at the age of 13, when he was a conservatory student, he participated in the "Interfest International Pianists Competition" held in Manastir, Macedonia, and became the European third in the Junior category.[1] he completed 12 years of part-time conservatory education with a bachelor's degree in 2010.[1] at the age of 16, he accompanied the Yarkin Turkish Rhythm Band, founded by his father Fahrettin Yarkin and his uncle, rhythm artist Ferruh Yarkin, at domestic and international concerts
