    Difficile de mentionner Introvert and Naked d’Ana Layla dans un magazine centré sur le jazz et les musiques improvisées. Car il s’agit foncièrement d’un album aux accents de pop moderne et il serait presque malhonnête de convoquer la porosité entre les genres pour se sortir de cette ornière. Reste qu’en s’accompagnant d’Eric Legnini, Victor Foulon et Dré Pallemaerts, Ana Layla fait quelques pas vers des musiciens importants dans le jazz.

    L’album est trempé d’un groove aux accents funky – ce qui n’est guère étonnant par ailleurs lorsqu’on sait que le bassiste Daniel Roméo, ici à la guitare, a composé la musique – et centré sur la voix d’Ana Layla qui, quelquefois, peut faire penser à celle d’Amy Winehouse. Alors, si stylistiquement on est loin de la soul que proposait la chanteuse britannique – éventuellement avec « Good Dumb » - il y a une gouaille qui donne le ton.

    Aux yeux d’un amateur de jazz, les musiciens semblent sous-exploités puisqu’on ne trouve pas l’ombre d’un chorus mais il faut replacer cet album pour ce qu’il est : un beau disque de pop qui en respecte les canons.
