Description
The IEC 61850 substation automation course is ideal for engineers, analysts, and technicians in the electrical or automation field who already work or want to work with electrical substation automation.
The course content is based entirely on IEC 61850, the industry's leading standard. It covers the main concepts of substation automation, the key points addressed by the standard, the main protocols specified, and implementation details. The practical examples are based on equipment from SEL, one of the leading companies in the field.
The main objective is to enable students to understand the main topics of the IEC 61850 standard for the automation of electrical substations. Understand the communication architectures and protocols used, as well as the advantages of their application.
Program Content:
·Part 1:History of the evolution of protection and control systems: communication architectures and protocols; Impact of the standard on electrical substation designs: importance of applying the standard; Advantages of the IEC 61850 standard over legacy systems;
·Part 2:General characteristics of the IEC 61850 standard: general structure; organization of the standard and applications in substations;
·Part 3:IEC 61850 architectures: division of the network into layers (station level, bay level, and process level); main characteristics and equipment of each layer; main protocols; intelligent relays (IEDs);
·Part 4:IEC 61850 protocols: GOOSE, MMS, and SV communication protocols; implementation details and applications;
·Part 5:Data modeling: organization of data in IEDs (physical devices, logical devices, logical nodes, data classes, data);
·Part 6:Programming language: use of XML and ICD, CID, and SCD files;
·Part 7:Time synchronization protocol: importance of time synchronization; the SNTP protocol – characteristics and implementation.
·Part 8:Network security in substations: importance of implementing security devices in electrical power substation networks; network monitoring (sniffers); failure points; common implementation errors.
