Requirements
No experience is needed. The Line class is recommended. Students will need watercolor paper, black ink, a brush, and a pen with different tips.
Description
Students will learn basic pen and ink techniques- like wash, line, wash and line, and wash and charcoal. Students will draw an object with wash. Students will create at least 5 different values of wash by diluting ink with water. Students will draw the values- lights, darks and shadows, of a simple objects by using light and dark washes. Students will then test out the pen and the different tips. The different tips are like different pencil tips. Students will then draw a simple object using the pen and line. The techniques that the students can use are hatching, cross hatching, contour or cross contour. Students will create lights and shadows on the objects by using crossing lines. Students will draw a simple object using the combination of wash and line. Students will draw a simple object by using the combination of wash and black, white and gray charcoal pencils and charcoal or black, white and gray colored pencils. Students will then work into a series of longer and completed drawings in wash, line, wash and line, and wash and charcoal. Students can choose still life objects, flowers, or use images to create the drawings. By the end of these exercises, the students should be ready to draw anything in pen and ink combinations.
