An overview of the GDPR and how it affects e-commerce, advertising, individual users, and digital media companies
The GDPR (General Data Protection Regulation) was passed in 2016 by the European Union and goes into affect in May 2018. It affects everyone who lives in the EU and any company that does business in the EU or has consumers in the EU, which in 2018 is nearly everyone.
Even if you don't live in Europe, or if your company isn't based in Europe, this is a good chance these rules will still apply to you, or have an affect on the tools you use every day.
