    Die Sprachtheorie R. Montagues stellt einen geeigneten Rahmen für die logische Analyse weiter Bereiche der natürlichen Sprache bereit. Typische Probleme, die in diesem Rahmen adäquat behandelt werden können, sind der Mechanismus natursprachlicher Quantifikation sowie verschiedenartige Intensionalitätsphänomene in der Sprache. Die intensionale Typenlogik ITL bzw. TITL, deren sich die Theorie dabei bedient, wird in diesem Buch schrittweise auf dem Weg über immer stärkere Systeme eingeführt und durch inhaltliche Exkurse motiviert. Eine große Anzahl von Beispielsätzen eines natursprachlichen "Deutsch-Ausschnitts" wird in TITL formalisiert und die semantische Korrektheit dieser Formalisierungen im Detail nachgewiesen. Unabhängig zu lesen ist eine Darstellung des abstrakt-algebraischen Teils der Theorie. Terminologie und Symbolik werden von Montague übernommen.
