Sweep Picking Fundamentals: Sweep Picking Doesn’t Need to be Difficult… With this new program, Dan makes sweep picking accessible to a broad range of late beginner to intermediate players. This program starts with fundamental sweep patterns. Instead of increasing in difficulty, it demonstrates how intricate shapes can be made by combining simple ones. Dan’s goal with this program is to teach you the building blocks of sweep pick arpeggios. Once you understand the basic structure you will be able to construct your own sweeps with ease.
Dan takes the time to explain and demonstrate the picking and fretting hand techniques in detail. These include proper string muting technique as well as the rolling barre and other fundamentals.

    About this Lesson

It’s not a long lesson. It actually clocks in at only 22 minutes but don’t let the brevity fool you. It’s packed with 35 exercises that will take you through all of the steps from novice to expert. Even so, Dan never quite brings out all of the fire power. He saves that for Sweep Pick Mechanics. Dan explains in the program, “See how easy it is to do 2 string sweeps? To do 4 string sweeps you just do the exact same movement on 2 more strings.” You’re finally going to master this technique.

One thing that I like about this lesson is, he shows how versatile sweep picking can be. It’s not just about neo-classical shred. He’ll show you sweeps that work in other genres.

    Monster Backing Trax

Monster Backing Trax (MBT) was created to provide supplemental backing tracks for the aspiring lead guitar player. Whether you are just starting out or studying advanced material and techniques MBT will make you a better lead guitarist.

How, you ask? MBT provides an opportunity for you, the guitarist, to apply your current level of skill and knowledge in a new situation. For example, let’s say you just learned the pentatonic minor scale in A and you know enough to be able to move it to different positions to change keys. You also may know a handful of typical riffs within the scale. You can now apply these scales and riffs over a fresh backing track. You are now forced to be creative and improvise with the tools you have learned over a fresh new landscape.

In another instance let’s assume that not only do you know that old faithful pentatonic but you are now learning major and minor scales and maybe even some modal playing. Once again you can use these tools over these tracks to sharpen your improvisations skills.

Or, let’s say you are working on playing and understanding arpeggios. This is where it gets really interesting. Learning to use chord tones in your solos to create consonance and dissonance. This takes a lot of practice in application. MBT provides the perfect backdrop for your practice.

    Track Listing
    • Fuzz Buzz – F# Minor – 3:15
    • Droopy Blue – A Minor – 2:57
    • Beach Tweaker – G Mixolydian – 3:13
    • Out of Reach – C Lydian, F Lydian – 4:00
    • Meteor Shower Me With Love – E Minor, C# Diminished Apreggios – 2:35
    • Sledgehammerface – D Phrygian – 2:28

    But Wait…There’s More!

Obviously, using these chord progressions as backing tracks is awesome. Maybe as important… you can learn to play the progressions because they include Guitar Pro 6 files. You’ve heard how cool the tracks sound. Learn to play along at any speed with Guitar Pro 6 software. As a bonus, the Guitar Pro files include suggestions for scale positions and melodic ideas!

Michael Angelo Batio – No Boundaries – Note for Note

    A Little Background…

Many people think that the name of the song on the original Speed Kills lesson is called Speed Kills it’s actually called No Boundaries. This song was created by MAB to illustrate every neoclassical shred technique known to man. That means that once this lesson is mastered you’ll have a real understanding of shred guitar.

Michael Angelo Batio breaks the song No Boundaries into 27 parts. He explains each section then plays the part at full-on shred speed. Next he plays the section at 50% tempo and you can see both the unfretting and picking hands in detail. Then, each part is shown with on-screen animated tab.

    About this Lesson

If you’re buying this lesson to learn No Boundaries at full-on shred speed you may find that goal a little intimidating. Start off with a modest goal of learning each of these 27 parts at about 25% of the original tempo. What this means is you’ll develop awesome shred technique and over time be able to increase speed until you reach your potential. Use the included Guitar Pro files to play along with the tab at any tempo (Guitar-Pro software program required to play these files). Start off slow and gradually go for your max.
