The content in this algebra course centers on algebraic relationships, functions and graphs that go beyond basic high school algebra. Students learn to solve for one or two unknown variables in a variety of complex equations. They also learn to graph intermediate-level algebraic functions, such as single-variable polynomial functions. Some of the topics covered are quadratic and rational inequalities, linear and quadratic variables, remainder and factor theorems and exponential and logarithmic functions Linear Equations • Recognizing linear equations • Solving linear equations with integer coefficients • Solving linear equations involving fractions • Solving linear equations involving decimals • Recognizing rational equations • Solving rational equations that lead to linear equations Quadratic Equations • Solving quadratic equations by factoring and the zero product property • Solving quadratic equations using the square root property • Solving quadratic equations using the quadratic formula • Using the discriminant to determine the type of solutions of a quadratic equation
