Description
Do you enjoy spooky and mysterious soundtracks? Have you ever watched a movie or played a video game with eerie atmospheric music and wondered how it is made? In this course, you will learn how to create your own dark music. In my examples, I use only free sound libraries, so my lectures are easy to follow, and you will be able to replicate exactly the same type of sound. Throughout this course, you will learn music theory and composition techniques that will allow you to create your own dark music and precisely manipulate the type of emotion you want to evoke.
In the first section, we will explore different scales and harmony concepts that will allow you to write effective melodies and chord progressions. We will cover:
Creating elegant music with simplistic harmony
Easy tricks to build spooky chord progressions
Exploring dark chords
Various scales that will allow you to precisely control the flavor of darkness you want to achieve
In the second section, we will create several compositions based on the theory from the first section. You will learn how to make:
A somber track inspired by soulslike game music
A dark and menacing organ composition
A spooky celeste waltz
Dramatic dark music using piano and strings
Moreover, the theory you will learn may be used to create far more tracks than those from the second section. You will be equipped with tools to explore different flavors of darkness on your own.
