Description
APIs are everywhere, and without them, you wouldn't be able to use many of your favorite apps.
Knowing how to create an API from scratch is such a valuable skill to have as a developer, but can be overwhelming at first.
I’m here to prove to you that it doesn’t have to be.
This course contains 16 videos and is just over 1.5 hours long. I’ve designed it to be for beginners, and I’ll walk you through how to build your first API step-by-step.
Watch the videos at your own pace, making sure you understand how the code works rather than trying to memorize everything. If you get stuck, post questions and I’ll do my best to help you.
You don’t need to be an experienced developer to take this course as I cover everything, although some basic knowledge of Django or Python will help.
By the time we’re finished, you’ll have a solid understanding of the Django REST Framework and how to use it to build fully-functional APIs.
What we'll build:
In this course, you will learn how to build a recipe API step-by-step by coding alongside me. Once finished, users can create an account and store their favorite recipes along with images.
We will add additional features, such as an upvote function that will allow users to vote for their favorite recipes.
Also, you'll learn how to use serializers to convert our model data into JSON, sum the calories of ingredients used in a recipe, and add token-based authentication for additional security.
By the end of this course, you will be able to confidently build fully-functional REST APIs.
Who this course is for:
