The compartment in which is located the upper urinary tract is delimited by renal fascia (Gerota), composed by one blade former (fascia of Toldt) and one rear (fascia of Zuckerkandl), determining the limits of the retroperitoneal space: after pararenal space, space perirenal and anterior pararenal space.
The space perirenal contains the adrenal, the kidney, the ureter, the fat perirenal, the pedicle vascular, and the vessels gonadal. The spaces perirenal feature points of communication (the height of the heel renal) with the space contralateral. Another important consideration to be made is that the perirenal space is opened inferiorly, presenting a direct connection with the extraperitoneal pelvic fat. The clinical-surgical significance of this arrangement is that perinephric fluids (purulent collections, urine, lymph, or blood) are contained within the perirenal space if the renal fascia is intact and may drain contralaterally or inferiorly to the pelvis.
The space pararenal above is defined between the blade above the fascia kidney and the portion posterior parietal peritoneum. The clinical value is the access Gerota fascia and kidney through the caviity peritoneal after the release of the line white of Toldt (formed by the fusion of the peritoneum later and colonic mesentery).
