Time Patterns in Big History: Cycles, Fractals, Waves, Transitions, and Singularities

Time Patterns in Big History: Cycles, Fractals, Waves, Transitions, and Singularities by David LePoire
English | February 1, 2020 | ISBN: 1654182605 | 208 pages | EPUB | 3.98 Mb

Various time patterns including fractals, waves, cycles, transitions, and singularities are explored within a Big History context. Historical patterns include the fractal nature of human rest; the way energy and science transitions demonstrate learning patterns; the cycles of about 7 generations in many national histories; accelerating transitions in civilization, a comprehensive view of evolution through the stages of evolution on Earth including life, humans, and civilizations, and the possibly unique situation (singularity) we are facing today in energy, technology, demographics, and environment. A nonlinear view of history is presented with multiplicative factors of time from the present to the past with the evolution of civilization, humans and life starting approximately 5 thousand, 5 million, and 5 billion years ago. A contrasting view of time from the beginning of the Big Bang is also presented with a much different multiplicative factor. Possible future extensions in the pattern include a geometric logistic "Cone".
