Sitcoms are now an integral part of the entertainment industry and a wide variety of sitcoms are offered worldwide on TV and streaming platforms. In this book, Kahraman Ayyildiz compiles the 25 most popular sitcoms of all time from a global perspective. This book serves not only as an orientation guide, but also compiles interesting background knowledge in general and about the presented sitcoms. The historical background of sitcoms is briefly outlined and facts and figures on sales, salaries and audience ratings are given. Even though the majority of the best sitcoms are from the USA, a brief insight into sitcoms from other countries is provided.
In addition, the author always gives his own opinion on certain issues and evaluates the sitcoms according to his own standards. Thus, this compilation is also based on the author's personal assessment. Among the top sitcoms are 'The King of Queens', 'The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air' or 'Home Improvement'. Classics from the 1970s and 1980s are also presented.
In three main chapters the best sitcoms are presented one after the other. In the first main chapter, international sitcoms from 18 different countries are presented. In the next chapter 12 of the most popular sitcoms in the world follow. In the third main chapter this list is extended by 13 more sitcoms, but these are a bit behind the first 12.
