    Description

Welcome parents and prospective parents. The BIG MISTAKE refers to the fact that almost all of us become parents, without any formal training. It refers to the assumption that we have, or can very easily develop, the skills required to complete two basic parenting tasks: 1)  to bring up happy,  healthy, well-adjusted, and achieving children, and 2) to not become an emotionally distressed parent in the process. The BIG MISTAKE suggests that the childrearing process is easy and natural.  That is simply not true!In this course, you will learn about all of the basics regarding child development and child guidance, including awareness of the causes of behavior and assertive, non demanding techniques for modifying behavior in ways that will not distance your child from you. Raise Your Child, But Not Your Voice, refers to the fact that you will also learn a powerful science supported way of preventing, or reducing, your own emotional upset that often accompanies being a parent. In the end you will have skills to help you feel more competent and actually be successful, and will understand why sometimes things work out for the best and why sometimes that does not happen.  The parenting skills you will learn in the course will give you the best opportunity to be happy and successful.  Thank you for coming aboard.
