Notes on Heavy Armored Vehicles Part 1: Weapons and military equipment of the world

Fighting in modern warfare is decisive, intense, often associated with heavy casualties. They are characterized by a rapid rapprochement of the parties with a mutual intense fire attack, the preemptive strikes, the fierce confrontation of various combat systems, primarily aviation and air defense, tanks and anti-tank weapons. An important factor in the successful conduct of hostilities is the effective, close and continuous interaction of forces and means, the rational use of the capabilities of various weapons.

A special place in the system of tactical weapons occupies the main tanks. They have the greatest resistance to conventional, chemical and nuclear weapons compared to other means of combat. The high mobility of tanks allows you to quickly use the results of fire and nuclear strikes, to timely concentrate troops to create a decisive advantage in the forces on the main directions, and if necessary to disperse groups to reduce the effectiveness of the impact of nuclear and high-precision weapons of the enemy.

These properties determine the current significance of the main tank as a mass effective means of conducting active, decisive and dynamic combat operations on land in conditions of both conventional and nuclear war.
