Since the last Space Shuttle trip in 2011 America hasn't had a functional space apparatus - and it has been 47 years and counting since the last Apollo mission. Regardless of whether Artemis meets the 2024 deadline, it's encouraging to see NASA working on a space exploration plan once again. It's been a long time since America started toward the Moon, Mars, and the stars past.

The excitement among space experts is nearing fever pitch as NASA's Artemis spacecraft returns to the moon. NASA praised the Space Launch System, or SLS, as the most powerful rocket ever built. On Wednesday, the 98-meter rocket arrived at NASA's Kennedy Space Center in Florida's launch zone. The rocket traveled more than ten hours to reach the launch location, which is six and a half kilometers away.

NASA has designated the first SLS rocket launch as Artemis 1. The spaceship will not have any crew members on board during its first mission. NASA's Orion spacecraft will travel atop SLS for a moon-circling test mission.

According to NASA, American astronauts will reach the moon no later than 2025. This would be the first human lunar landing since NASA's Apollo 17 mission in 1972.
