The material cost content of total cost is kept at a reasonable level.2. The wastage of materials at the phase of storage as well as transportation is kept under control.3. The inventory of materials is prompt and late delivery is reduced to a greater extent.4. By taking control of investments in materials, overstocking is averted.5.
