Britain has had kings and queens for over four thousand years. Most people know sometking of the monarchs who have reigned during the second millennium AD, starting with 1066 and the fateful Battle of Hastings. Before that there are no documents, but the rich burials archaeologists have found show that there were kings in Britain two thousand years before Caesar, though we do not know their names.
