    The ESP8266 is a low-cost Wi-Fi microchip with full TCP/IP stack and microcontroller capability produced by manufacturer Espressif Systems in Shanghai, China.

    This book looks at this microcontroller using the Wemos Mini and a variety of small shields to enhance the functionality of the board.

    The book is split into 3 categories

    Basic examples that do not require any shields such as a basic webserver, wifi example, SPIFFS and more
    A look at 19 shields with examples - these include the DHT shield, SHT30 shield, BMP180 shield and many more
    How to combine shields to create other projects such as DHT22 readings on an OLED display simple project which uses 3 shields and a Wemos mini

    All of the examples use the popular Arduino IDE which is free, all of the code is available from our github site for ease of reading as well.
