    What you'll learn

    Requirements

    Your child needs no prior learning or reading skills, as this is an Entry Level Course for Beginner Readers. As parents the only thing you need to bring to the course is a desire to help your child…I teach you how to help them. The first section of - Learn to Read for Beginner Readers - contains videos where I teach you how to best help your child learn to read. You'll learn how to introduce a book to a beginner reader to ensure a successful reading experience; how to make sure your child is reading for comprehension; reading strategies to use when your child doesn't know a word; instructions on how to effectively use the Alphabet, Sight Word and Level 1 Book videos. I also teach you about the vowel sounds so you have some background knowledge of these important sounds.

    Students will need a computer or tablet to view the videos. There are additional activities that can be downloaded and printed off using a printer.

    I also suggest that you have several story books that your child loves in your home. The Video Books in this course are designed to teach reading skills and while they contain some great pictures, but they don’t replace a beautiful picture book story that you can read to your child over and over again. You can borrow books from your local library or purchase some "special" books to read to your child.
