Description
The 8th Grade STAAR Test Prep course is designed to provide comprehensive review and targeted instruction to help students succeed on the State of Texas Assessments of Academic Readiness (STAAR). This course focuses on the key content areas assessed in 8th grade: Math, Reading Language Arts, Science, and Social Studies. Aligned with the Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS), the course addresses both academic content and effective test-taking strategies.In Math, students will review essential concepts such as linear equations, functions, proportional relationships, geometry, and number operations. Reading instruction will focus on comprehension, analysis of literary and informational texts, vocabulary development, and summarization. Science review will cover matter and energy, force and motion, Earth and space systems, and organisms and environments. Social Studies content includes U.S. history through Reconstruction, geography, government, and citizenship.The course integrates STAAR-style practice questions, diagnostic assessments, and focused skill-building activities to help students close learning gaps and reinforce their understanding. Students will also learn time management, how to approach multiple-choice and open-ended questions, and how to reduce test anxiety.By the end of the course, students will be equipped with the academic tools and confidence needed to perform successfully on the 8th Grade STAAR assessments and transition into high school with a strong foundation.Those under 18 may use the services only if a parent or guardian opens their account, handles any enrollments, and manages their account usage.
