    Description

This introduction course has been carefully created by a specialist occupational therapist currently working as a clinician within mental health services. The topics are discussed from both the view point of a therapist but also as someone with sensory needs themselves. The course provides key learning objectives and real case studies and examples throughout to bring the course to life. The course covers the following:What is an Occupational therapist and how sensory processing is important to how we function in our environments. How many senses do we have, how do they impact how we experience the world and what happens when our sensory system does not work as intended. There are also different case studies, examples of real life scenarios and how peoples needs have been supported to bring the theoretical subject to life more than if you were learning by reading some dusty books. There are also opportunities to test your own knowledge during the course, some times to reflect and also moments that will challenge you to rethink others behaviours and maybe view them through a sensory lens. the course ends with information and tips to aid you in creating a sensory space/room whilst avoiding commonly made mistakes.
