Description
The Dhot Lay (Short Stick) is the primary weapon of our curriculum. We believe in universal skillsets and Short Stick training is mappable to many different weapons and techniques.Learn American Bando Martial ArtsAmerican Bando is an efficient style of Martial Arts with its origins in the Art of Thaing from Myanmar. It encompasses Bando (empty hand) and Banshay (weapons). We have adapted the art for Online Learning in order to reach students around the world - Including You!The Dhot Lay level one course is designed for beginners and students interested in beginning their journey into the weapons of Myanmar. This is a system of practical self-defense designed around our universal skillsets and is focused on real-world applications of the stick for self-defense.Unlike many stick systems available the Myanmar system is NOT designed for "fencing with sticks" and we make a very clear distinction between "Stick fighting" - where two fighters engage in consensual sport or combat, and "fighting with a stick" - where you use your stick to defend yourself from harm. So if you're serious about a self-defense skill set with a short stick, welcome to our program! We train to fight with sticks in order to preserve our life and health as well as that of our loved ones. We are not interested in teaching or training stick fencing, though there are many excellent options for that available elsewhere.
