What you'll learn

The student will learn about the different types of foot health professional in different parts of the world.

The student will learn about professional issues e.g. health, safety, hygiene, infection control, law, ethics, consent.

The student will learn the basic structure an function of the foot and lower limb and how biomechanics issues can cause path-mechanical problems.

The student will learn about the ways in which they can assess biomechanics and correct using basic techniques to slow down path-mechanical problems.

The student will learn about applied podiatric microbiology e.g. Bacteria, Viruses & Fungal infections of the foot.

The students will about high risk patients with high risk foot conditions and how to treat and refer on.

The student will learn how to undertake a foot health assessment and routine treatment.

The student will learn about all the tools used in foot care and how to use them safely.

The students will learn about all the products and medications used in foot health care and how other drugs interact with the body.

The student will be able to apply what they have learned independently and in co-operation with other health professionals.

The student will have a deep understanding of medical terminology used in general health and foot health settings.

Requirements

There are no particular requirements for taking this course, as it starts at the very foundation level and builds on. But you should have a good general education e.g. English, Maths, Communication, IT and self motivation in order to succeed.
