Concentrations in graphing, functions, inequalities and systems of equations.

    What you'll learn

Students will understand what a linear equation/function is.

Students will be able to calculate rate of change (slope).

Students will be able to apply the three basic linear equation forms to solve problems.

Students will understand quadratics and be able to analyze and apply quadratic concepts.

    Requirements

    Pre-algebra, algebra fundamentals.

    Description

This course dives into: - graphing basics, including coordinates, slope, distance, parallel and perpendicular lines- linear equations and inequalities, including various forms of linear equations- polynomials, including descriptions of monomials, binomials, trinomials and general polynomials- quadratics, including roots, axis of symmetry, vertex, solving by factoring and quadratic formula- functions, including testing, operations and composite functions- systems of equations and inequalities, including solving by elimination, substitution and graphing- arithmetics sequences, including general and explicit forms of equations-direct and indirect variation and introductions in: - statistics, box and whisker plot, normal distribution, standard deviation and correlation and causation- probability, including counting principle and basic probability- exponential functions, including standard form, growth and decay. This algebra 1 course is designed from several state curriculums and should meet most or all of the standards students require for algebra 1.  It does not include worksheets, quizzes or problem sets which add to the length of the course.  It includes video lectures on the topics and where appropriate, goes through some sample problems.  Reviewing some of the lectures more than once will solidify the concepts so that the student will be comfortable in the knowledge gained.  I hope this course proves very useful for all students that enroll and I sincerely hope my teaching style is suitable to convey the necessary knowledge.
