This course explains the value of lived experience and gives ideas for how it can be incorporated into equine assisted organisations. It also will help you to uncover how your own life experiences uniquely qualify you to lead and give you ideas for how to incorporate them into your own equine assisted practice. This is vital because People with a personal lived experience can empathise and advocate on behalf of those currently unable to do so. Lived experience roles have also been found to reduce coercion within services and increase the human rights of consumers. Lived experience leaders can can utilize their personal experiences and knowledge to create new programs and services that are more effective and responsive to the needs of their populations. Lived experience as a concept is about understanding people's interactions with services from their perspective and the meanings they derive from those experiences and interactions. People with lived experience bring a different perspective to care, policy, service design and delivery in Equine Assisted Services.
