    Are you struggling with transitioning to retirement? Many people experience stress after they retire, feeling they have lost part of their identity. Is that you?

    Description

    Now that you have the time, get involved in your community. You'll learn about many resources and organizations where you can put your skills to use. There are an abundance of non-profit organizations in your area that can benefit from your expertise. Teach, mentor or coach others. Learn about Meet Up groups, and online resources to stay engaged. Volunteer opportunities abound. Find out what to get involved in retirement based off your time commitment, financial status, etc.. Learn about the latest tech resources to improve your skills, stay sharp resources like Lumosity, Elevate and Mensa Brain training. Create a “Moai”, a small group of people serving as lifelong support for one another. Staying social can boost one’s immune system, reduce physical pain, and lower blood pressure. Staying active and stimulating the brain, along with personal interaction, help to improve one’s state of mind significantly. Friends help us cope with stress. In one study at the University of Virginia, many people were intimidated at the prospect of climbing a steep hill. But researchers found that when people were standing next to a friend, they rated the hill less challenging than those who were alone. Get engaged, get involved! You are only on this planet for so long
