    Description

By AWS definition, a cost-optimised workload is one which fully utilises its resources, achieves an outcome at the lowest possible price point and meets functional requirements. As more and more organisations move their workloads to the cloud, a demanding task of managing cost and usage is created. Achieving an outcome at the lowest price point is good news to budgetary limits and the overall budget process. So a deeper understanding of how costs are generated in the AWS cloud is needed and also a baseline of usage against those costs is crucial for adjusting business processes. The main business processes that are key, are the budget and forecasting ones and it so happens that the AWS Cost Optimisation pillar touches on these. The AWS Well-Architected Framework is made up of six pillars - Reliability, Security, Operational Excellence, Performance Efficiency, Sustainability and Cost Optimisation. This course is all about getting a basic understanding of the AWS Cost Optimisation Pillar. There are about five focus areas for cost optimisation - Practice Cloud Financial Management, Expenditure and usage awareness, Cost-effective resources, Manage demand and supplying resources, and Optimise over time. This course is mainly dedicated to the Practice Cloud Financial Management area. There are best practices that are followed under the Practice Cloud Financial Management area, this course will also discuss some of those best practices.
