    climate change is the most pressing issue affecting mankind climate change is being widely studied by IPCC which is intergovernmental panel on climate change climate conferences and negotiations are based on scientific data and the literature is available for everyone to access However this would require an understanding of some concepts .This course is designed to introduce some ideas and bring forth some perspective based on crucial data Few basic ideas which are explained in the course are as followsone idea is thinking about environment in terms of carbon footprint and quantifying the carbon footprint per head or per community or per nation.We present the idea with the help of carbon footprint data and related concepts like global warming potential The second idea is to think about the environment as a global common good ,common space which is shared by all inhabitants from EarthThe third idea is about thinking the issue of climate change from a broader perspective of development and equity.While everyone must do their part to address climate change, the burden should not be borne by those that have contributed the least.This would mean thinking about climate change from the perspective of climate justice .The climate crisis is the result of a system which prioritizes profit over sustainability. As such, solutions will require a transformative systems lens and approach. Approaches that address the unequal burdens in certain communities and which realigns the economy with natural systems.
