Description
The Introduction to Data Networking and TCP/IP course presents the basic theory of network hardware and software. It starts with the OSI Reference Model and data structure, explains the Ethernet protocol and LAN switching, continues with the basics of IPv4 operation and addressing, continues with TCP, UDP and how they work and finalize with routers and routing protocols. This course focuses on the understanding on the understanding of data networks. During te course you will learn about how data flows over the network, including the packet structure, illustrated with many Wireshark capture files examples. You will learn about:The network layers in the OSI and DoD reference models, frames, packet and messages and how they are structured.Network quality characteristics, that is bandwidth, delay, jitter and packet loss, and how they influence applications performance over the networkThe Ethernet protocols, from 10Mbps to 100Gbps and beyond, LAN switching, VLANs, Spanning Tree and Ling Aggregation.IPv4 protocol and addressing, Address Resolution Protocol (ARP), including Variable Length Subnet Masks (VLSM) and Classless Inter-Domain Routing (CIDR)IP Multicast and how it works, Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol (DHCP) operation, Static and Dynamic NAT operationRouting principles, how routers find the way to destination, HSRP/VRRP operation and L3 switching. The course brings many examples and illustrations, including network examples, Wireshark packets examples and more, providing you wit a good start in the data networks and TCP/IP worlds.
