    Description

Part 1 of Day 1 of this certification course!Every year, water reclamation facilities generate tens of millions of tons of organic residuals known as sewage sludge. The question of what to do with this material remains a financial and public health challenge for water utilities, government health agencies and other environmental and public-policy stakeholders. Given the legal ban on ocean disposal and the exorbitant costs associated with landfilling and incineration, residuals recycling (or beneficial use) has become the financially preferred option for sewage sludge management. In the United States (US), sewage sludge recycling is a regulatory process that is defined by Title 40 of the US Code of Federal Regulation Part 503 Subpart B (Part 503). The first step in this process is the legally-recognized transformation of sewage sludge into biosolids. By regulatory definition, biosolids are sewage sludge that meets the nationally-recognized quality requirements necessary for environmental recycling.Biosolids beneficial use represents a new and exciting approach to enhance agricultural production, combat climate change and achieve environmental sustainability. A new technical series narrated by Dr. Mike McFarland explores the myriad options for recycling biosolids to protect ecological resources and enhance food security. An excellent course for those seeking land applier certification. In Day 1, Part 1 of this online course, Dr. McFarland will focus on the following topics:Biosolids Management OverviewBasics of Title 40 of the Code of Federal Regulations (CFR)Pathogen Control ProtocolsUpdated Instructor Contact No: 01- 435-994-0905There is a supplementary workbook we highly recommend people get to go along with the lecture under the title: "Biosolids Land Applier Certification" by Dr. Michael J.
