Japanese Mythology : A Fascinating Collection of Tales about Japanese Myths, Including Legends, Beliefs, Gods, Goddesses, Heroes, Monsters and Rituals by Neil Stark
    English | 2021 | ISBN: N/A | ASIN: B09B2LY7HF | 104 pages | EPUB | 0.86 Mb

Before the formation of the earth, according to Japanese mythology, there was a jelly-like and formless mаss. At that period, the very first generation of the deities arose at Tаkаmаgаhаrа, the High Plain of Heaven. Amеnоminаkаnuhi, Takamimusubi, and Kаmimuubi were the first three рrimаl kаmi(gоds) who came into being, and later on, there were seventeen generations of them, with the seventeenth generation being the couple siblings named Izаnаgi (mаlе kаmi) and Izаnаgi (female kаmi).

The study of mythology and folklore is unique in that we look at facts that are commonly considered untrue and yet crucial to a society. Of course, Japan is a single country, but its roots are so ancient and sometimes so fractured that it is difficult to point to unified mythology and folklore. However, we can concentrate on many main texts, narratives, and characters that give us a fair sense of Japanese mythology.

You'll notice that Japanese mythology isn't founded on a single religion. Shinto and Buddhist practices are reflected in these myths and folktales. The thousands of years of interaction Japan has had with Korea, Chinae, Ainu, and Okinawan mythology have also influenced their mythology.

This book will convey some of their most famous myths to you. Since the stories come from translations, we will use terms to ensure you can understand them.

By reading this book, you'll learn:
    The history of Japanese mythology
Creation myth and legends that followed
    Japanese Kamis
    Folk heroes and heroines
    Mythical creatures and sacred animals
    Mysterious places and magical locations
    …And much more!
