    Description
Welcome to our course on the Introduction to 8051 Microcontroller!

Microcontrollers are used in embedded systems ranging from the most basic to the highly advanced. 8051 is one of the most widely studied microcontrollers all over the world. Universities and professional institutes prefer beginning embedded systems with 8051 because it forms a strong foundation for a long and exciting journey ahead.

In this course, first you will learn the basic concept of a microcontroller and how is it different from a microprocessor. We will then move on to learning basics of 8051 and its internal components.

Firstly, we look at the processor inside 8051. 8051 has an 8-bit internal processor. This means it is capable of performing 8-bit arithmetic and logic operations in one cycle. This was typical of processors in that era.

We then look closely into the internal memory of 8051. 8051 has an internal RAM of 128 bytes and an internal ROM of 4 KB. Yes on the first impression, these numbers seem really small but as you watch the videos you will realise these sizes suffice most applications that 8051 is intended to be used in.

We then move on to the I/O components of 8051. 8051 has 4, 8-bit I/O ports, 2 16-bit timers, one serial port, 5 interrupts, power saving features etc.

Finally we will summarise with a clear plan as to how you will move forward into your journey of learning and mastering the 8051 Microcontroller.

I truly hope you enjoy learning just as much as we enjoy making these courses for you.

    Best Wishes,
