    Description
    Thank you for considering my class, Having Fun With American Idioms! My name is Carole Bersani, and I will be your teacher for this course designed by me, a TOEFL-certified English teacher! Together, we will be able to improve your understanding and use of the American language by learning and practicing idioms!

    Throughout the six lectures, you will see amazing improvements in your use of the English language.     This course is appropriate for all levels of English Language Learners. According to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR), there are six levels of proficiency

    A1 Beginner

    A2 Elementary

    B1 Intermediate

    B2 Upper-Intermediate

    C1 Advanced

    C2 Proficient/Mastery

    This course focuses entirely on idioms. There are similar terms, which have very subtle differences. Here is a brief explanation of some of the similar terms

    Phrase = a small group of words that expresses an idea

    Expression = an informal phrase related to an expressed action/feeling

    Saying = a phrase made from memorable words

    Proverb = a well-known, wise saying often from folklore/religion giving advice

    Colloquialism = an informal expression used in spoken conversation

    Idiom = a saying whose meaning should not be seen as literal

    Taking this course on idioms is a smart thing to do because learning idioms can help you sound more like a native English speaker. The idioms are explained in context by a native English speaker. There are many opportunities to practice what you learn, and the course is fun!
