From transcription to visualisation: everything you need to get started!
What you'll learn
Come into grips with NVivo's interface and menus
Understand the differences between files, nodes, and cases
Know how to treanscribe with NVivo
Learn how to visualise qualitative data easily
Requirements
No experience of NVivo is needed, but a basic knowledge of qualitative research would make it easy to understand the ins and outs of the software.
Description
If you are undertaking qualitative research, you are bound to use NVivo. It is a comprehensive, simple to use software that makes it easy to transcribe, code and analyse qualitative research. In this class, you will be learning how to use NVivo to analyse your own research, using hypothetical examples of 3 short interviews. During the class, you will learn:The point of NVivoNVivo’s user interface: files, cases and nods.Files: Transcription using NVivo.Nodes: the codesCases: analysing dataCreating visualsUsing the Search toolThis class is recommended for users who never used NVivo before (or have limited experience and need a refresher) and are looking to get started with the interface. We go through the very basics first before delving into visualisation and getting outputs to use for your research. After the class, you will be able to transcribe, code, analyse and visualise your qualitative data in a professional manner to maximise the quality of your findings. This class will be suitable whether you are an undergraduate student who wants to learn NVivo for educational purposes, or for academics who will undertake a qualitative research project and are looking to learn it for an upcoming large-scale project. For any questions or issues with using NVivo, please do not hesitate to contact me and I will be in touch as soon as I can.
