    Engineering Thermodynamics cannot comment on the duration of the process i.e. it is not able to comment on how much time is required to reach a particular temperature. Engineering Thermodynamics cannot explain the mode of heat transfer either. So, in order to overcome these limitations of Engineering Thermodynamics a new subject called Heat Transfer is introduced. For further analysis of heat transfer, it is mandatory to have knowledge of Thermodynamics therefore heat transfer is also called extension of Engineering Thermodynamics.In this first module of the heat transfer course, learners will study the fundamentals of heat conduction which is the first mode of heat transfer. Heat Conduction is a mode of heat transfer between higher energy particles to lower energy particles which is due to the existence of a temperature gradient in a stationary medium.
