This book addresses the broad issue of reducing the impacts of disasters in the United States by investing in the enhancement of the nation's disaster resilience.

Issues addressed:

- describing the state of knowledge about resilience to hazards and disasters;
- the main issues related to increasing resilience in the United States;
- the goals, baseline conditions, or performance metrics for national resilience; and
