    Design your own quilt pattern and create your own masterpiece, easy to follow.

    What you'll learn
    Students design the pattern for their quilt blocks on paper. Then they have to print this design to use as their templates.
    Make a sample quilt of 4 blocks to keep as a guide together with their notes for future reference.
    Learn the construction of this method of quilting by sewing the fabric onto their templates to create their own unique quilt design.
    We also teach them how to attach their quilt blocks and how to finish the quilt
    Requirements
    No experience of quilting needed.
    You have to be able to sew straight lines.
    You will need a sewing machine, normal and freemotion sewing foot, 100% medium weight woven cotton fabric, Iron on batting / fleece, sewing thread, scissors, paper, be able to print your template design,.
    Description
    The process of quilting with your own design is very exiting and rewarding, once you experience how to create different designs with limited colour and prints of fabric. In this sewing course students will design their own templates and learn how to sew fabric pieces onto the templates, to create their own unique design. They will make a sample quilt of 4 blocks to learn from the beginning to the end of how to sew a quilt. They will start to design the template on paper then they have to cut their fabric pieces and learn this unique template method of sewing the fabric pieces to the templates.  Students then have to add batting and backing to the quilt blocks . They will sew free motion stitching on all the blocks and learn how to attach the blocks with the binding technique.  After pinning the binding corners and the rest of the edges in place, they will finish off the quilt binding edge by sewing it all around. The template in this course can be altered in so many ways, that each of the students can create and sew  a different and unique design quilt, and then be able to call it their own masterpiece.
