Control, Measurement & Analysis with MicroPython and RP2040

Control, Measurement & Analysis with MicroPython and RP2040 by Hans-Joachim Berndt
    English | 2022 | ISBN: N/A | ASIN: B0BLSKB99K | 346 pages | EPUB | 1.55 Mb

This book wants to simplify getting started with the RP2040 using MicroPython for the interested from the fields of school, education, study and hobby and to point out the advantages of this interpreter language using the inexpensive original Raspberry Pi Pico.

Early in 2021 the RP2040 was launched, and a device came onto the market that sets new standards in the microcontroller
sector in terms of price and equipment. In contrast to the RPi singlechip computers, the first microcontroller from Raspberry
Pi is on another level witch so far been dominated by Arduino, ESP & Co. In the meantime, this controller can be found on new boards from Adafruit, Sparkfun and also an Arduino with RP2040 is now available. So there are many reasons to take a closer look at this chip. Despite complex hardware, with the resulting possibilities, the developers for this device support a simple high-level language in the form of MicroPython, which enables the programmer to grant full access to the hardware and even allows assembly language programming for some applications.

The book is divided in such a way that at the beginning a purposeful introduction to this language takes place according to the book title, where also comparisons to other high-level languages are to clarify the similarities and differences on the basis examples. After a detailed presentation of the connection possibilities tools follow, which can be helpful for measuring and control tasks. In the last part some applications and experiments from the technical-scientific area are listed, which can be realized with a RP2040 board.
The recommended programming environment is Thonny, which is available for all desktop platforms. Used Versions in 2021: MicroPython v1.15 on 2021-04-18; Raspberry Pi Pico with RP2040.
