    Requirements
    Students will require the use of the following kitchen tools: Mixing bowls, mixing spoons, measuring cups, hand or stand mixer, (2) 8-inch cake pans, muffin tins, oven, spoons, butter knives, spatulas and recipe ingredients.
    Novice bakers will benefit from the simple recipes, baking methods and decorating skills featured in this course.
    Description
    In this 4-week course, learners will bake a different cake flavor each week starting with a white boxed cake mix.We will start with a base recipe including flour, butter, oil, water, eggs, baking soda and a boxed white cake mix.  By using the add-ins below, each week will make the following cake flavors:Week 1: VanillaWeek 2: Chocolate Week 3:  Lemon or Key LimeWeek 4: CoconutAdd-ins include:Week 1: Vanilla instant pudding, vanilla extractWeek 2: Chocolate instant pudding, cocoa powderWeek 3: Lemon instant pudding, lemon or key lime juiceWeek 4: Instant coconut or vanilla pudding, coconut milkWe will also make a different complementary icing each week.  Icing recipes will include several buttercream and cream cheese flavors and will use the following ingredients:Lemon or key lime juiceCocoa powderSweetened shredded coconutCoconut flavoringCream cheeseFinally, we will learn the following decorating skills:Week 1: Finish with textured icingWeek 2: Finish with smooth icingWeek 3: Add icing flower decorations Week 4: Make cupcakes!Please see the prerequisites for supplies that will be needed for this class. Recipes are available in the class download.  Each week of the course will also feature additional learning  material that will increase your knowledge of baking and cake decorating.  Learners will be invited to ask questions, share pictures of their baked goods, and discuss ways they made the recipes their own!
