Published in 1984, the book presents a series of principles and case studies for using ecology as the basis of design. To their credit, the authors consider design over a range of scales, from individual dwellings and boats to villages, cities, and cultures. While the proposals are often dated or fanciful, some, like those for small scale aquaculture and wood-laminate sailing ships captured my interest.
